Tasting Notes
This wine shows opulent aromas of citrus and tropical notes which are underlined with subtle hints of toast.
The Villa Esposto wine range, pays tribute to the many Italians who have played such a pivotal role in South Africa, not only in the field of winemaking but also in various civil engineering projects. In particular, it pays homage to Louis Theodore Esposto, who arrived from Italy in 1914. Louis and many other Italians built the water canal, that today is a vital “fountain of life” in our wine-growing region, Olifants River.
Food Suggestions
The vibrant acidity and full body will complement a wide variety of white meat dishes.
In The Vineyard
These dry land bush vines were planted in 1982, on own roots and belongs to Mr. Basie van Lill. The site is about 530 meters above sea level and only 35km from the West Coast. Grapes are hand-picked and left to cool down naturally overnight and delivered to the winery the next morning.
In The Cellar
After crushing the juice, the juice were cold settled overnight. Free run juice was then fermented in old school 1000 litre oak barrels. Wines were left on its fine lease with regular battonage.
