This year, Klawer Wine Cellars took a refreshing turn for Sauvignon Blanc Day, celebrating in the charming town of Nieuwoudtville. Each year, cyclists from all corners of the country come together to tackle the breathtaking Knersvlakte on their bikes. The Nieuwoudtville Great Trek kicked off on 2 May, with around 25 enthusiastic riders taking the scenic route up the mountain for their halfway break at the 10km mark.
They indulged in some chilled Sauvignon Blanc, including the delightful Klawer Sauvignon Blanc 2025 and the Cloudskraal Sauvignon Blanc 2024, crafted from locally sourced grapes right in Nieuwoudtville. As they sipped their wine, they soaked in the stunning views, complemented by a refreshing darling brew and some light snacks.
The race continued the following day, featuring both a 50km and a 100km course. Klawer thoughtfully arranged a water stop – more aptly a “wine stop” – to provide some much-needed moral support.
We eagerly anticipate more delightful wine adventures with Sauvignon Blanc in the future!
